My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
97 Geo Metro
91 Chevy S10 Blazer
03 Ford Taurus
97 Chevy Astro
08 Nissan Xterra
11 Ram 1500
15 Ram 1500
83 Ford Ranger
17 Ram 1500
94 Ford F-250

I think that’s everything, not a very long list. I didn’t include any of my wife’s cars, though I suppose I was part owner for some of them.
I didn’t include any of my wife’s cars either… those were hers, not mine. Even if I paid for them.

Not that many:

1955 Mercury. Came out of the junk yard in 1964 with a broken piston and rod through the cylinder wall. Dad - a great mechanic and machinist, bored that cylinder out to water, machined a used farm tractor wet sleeve, pressed in the sleeve, bored all the cylinders to 0.020 over, and rebuilt the engine. Eventually everything else was rebuilt - auto transmission, brakes, springs, shocks, etc. I drove that Merc until 1972 when the frame rusted in two and I had no choice but to junk it. Junk man pulled the engine and ran it in his pickup truck.

Then on to a 1965 Mercury Caliente also out of a Nebraska junk yard. I think this must have been used by a farmer to haul hay out to his cows. An engine swap from a low mileage salvage got this one running for several years.

1975 Ford Ranchero GT, factory 460. Bought this while first on active duty, U.S. Army, at Aberdeen, Maryland. I still own it. Just finished repaint, interior, and modified 460 rebuild. 400 hp on the dyno.

A couple of modified VW Rabbits - 1973, 1974. Audi engined pocket rockets.

2002 Ford Ranger 4WD XLT. Brother and I bought it as a used low mileage pickup for Dad. I inherited when Dad died at 95. My everyday driver.

Hey, did you know that was going to be the car in Smokey and the Bandit? https://www.sellingyourscreenplay.com/wp-content/uploads/screenplay/scripts/Smokey-and-the-Bandit.pdf
I went through the windshield of one of these Cobras. My buddy lost control of it drifting a corner at 80mph and we slammed into a huge tree. I bounced off the dash and through the window and the transmission pushed his seat up against the door. It was 100% driver error. We both walked away. Such a shame because it was so nice and just bam, gone in a second. Totalled
It's the last time I didn't wear a seatbelt.

I think most of us with a huge list were curbing cars or buying beaters and driving the piss out of em. Haha

I didn’t beat mine. Most vehicles in our family either got rotted out from road salt or got totaled in some fashion. Either way, a vehicle with 100,000 miles was just getting broken in. Only the 1998 Ranger and 1999 CR-V moved on to a new home.

Both you guys are good stewards of these never will be made again vehicles. There's a product called Fluid Film. I use it every fall on my entire underside and it's kept rust from developing. They just made it in black so I might give that a go this year. It's sprayable, brushable, and there's a long tube kit with an omnidirectional nozzle so you can put it down in your frame and pull it out as it dischages to coat the inside of it
