Get your mind out of the gutter!

You know every time you get brakes or suspension stuff for the fun50 and they as 5 or 7 lug? The F-250LD(97-98) or F150 7700 (99-03) is the 7 lug one.
Oh. I still don't understand why 7700. But at least I know what it refers to. The other oddball. My kug pattern is some off-the-wall 5x135 or something stupid like that. Just barely off that 5x5.5" isn't right enough.

Makes you want to cuss somebody out.

As a general rule... yes. They make me cringe. Never been around the later ones like you have pictured a whole lot (just enough to know they have Lucas electrical systems... for some reason they refused to use Delco electrics like every other tractor in the US... :dntknw:)

But all the things that make Ford slightly annoying as an auto company... are dialed up to 11 in their tractors.

I know your family ran one so I won't get too harsh but from a parts getting standpoint there is a lot of weirdness to them.

Anywho, possibility of big storms tonight so I got everybody that is anybody tucked inside.

Then my wife decided she wants something from the store. Check the radar and the storm is still a ways off, plenty of time. So I hop in the ol' faithful '02 that has basically been sitting a week, fire it up and head to town. As soon as I pull out on our road I could tell it has a missfire. I go ahead and go to the highway thinking maybe it will come out of it... nope. For the first time in 17 years the CEL starts flashing. So I pull over and check codes, #4 missfire.

So I get to put another coilpack in it so I can sell it!

You won't insult me. I enjoyed driving the 6610. But I'm not a farmer with hundreds or thousands of hours of tractor experience. For the little bit that I have done, I'm irritated that so many things that need to be adjusted or worked on are inside the big transmission body. The PTO on the 6610 likes to pop out of engagement. The valve and detent assembly are inside. Uncle Phil's Massey needed some adjustment to the 3 point hitch raising and lowering stuff. It didn't want to lift some implements that were definitely within it's lift rating. The adjustments are inside and you're supposed to do it with the oil warm. But it takes a while to remove the step and side cover (and drain the oil level down). Then you still can't really see what you're doing because you'rewedged in between tje rear wheel and the transmission body. Just not easy to work on from that standpoint.

I prefer the older ford tractors myself, pre 1965, not the select-o-speeds though. Almost bought a ‘54 NAA a year ago but held out for a 63 2000 that’s really similar to a 64 2000 I grew up with. Just wish it had power steering!

Yeah, nothing is perfect either.

Ford (and Massey) didn't have a strong presence around here after the 50's so they are odd ones when they come in.

Swapped the LED cargo lights from F-150A to F-150B, kinda surprising Ford didn't have to change them between here and there.

The incandescent bulbs bothered me compared to the LED bed lighting.

Next up... the crappy license plate lights. That will wait until another day though.

All the stupid mix matching bothers me.

And I tried to swap over my divider board. Surprisingly the '16 bed is like a 1/4" narrower than my '02's :icon_confused:

Oh well, better that way than the other way.

I did go back out after dark, the back of my truck is lit up like a stadium now lol.

I have a friend that installed the irs out of a 2019 mustang into his 2000. Said it practically just bolted right on.

I know the unibody of a new edge mustang is very similar as a fox body. Looks like they haven’t changed the unibody on the mustang much since the 80’s.

He’s talking about important things like light bulbs... you have to remember, Ford has used 4 different style fuses since 2000.
