from my house....it is basically 1hr 20min to all 3 of my "local" parks...

with Wishbone Ranch easily the smallest, but, by far the most fun/challenging to me....plus I can easily eat up a weekend there and never get bored....

next on my list is TB, just because it has easily 10x the trails Interlake has....and always seems "drier", even in the rain:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

don't get me wrong, I do like Interlake...it does have some nice trails, especially for a day trip....but, I just prefer the other 2 above it is all...

plus, if I ever wanna go on the spur of the moment, I know Greg (97trailrigDD ) who lives in Evansville, will go at the drop of a hat...:D:D

Good to know! Its looking like our next trip out will be SMORR on 5/18/13 for my local clubs Jeep Jam. Depending on what I break that weekend, I might be making a trip down to Superlift down in Arkansas. That trip is a bit of a pipe dream so I'm not sure I can make the logistics work out.

After that, it'll be a trip down to Washita in June some time. Beyond that is anyone's guess :icon_twisted:

17th offroad trip – SIJA Jeep Jam at SMORR 5-18-13

We covered around 15 miles worth of trails Saturday, staying mostly on 2’s and 3’s since my wife wasn’t feeling 100%. We did manage to play around on Larry’s hill a little bit, but with things being so wet, it wasn’t happening.

The fog was thick as we took the back roads down to SMORR:

Travel in the park:

Some of the group:

Wandering through Stocker Stomper and Pewee’s crossing:

Going down Larry’s Hill:

Then the Wife wanted me to go play on the ledge some so that she could get some photos. Me being the goofball that I am went for it at full bore:

Nearly made it too:

But the wheel base put me in a place where I was trying to climb two mud slicked ledges at once. It did make for some fun video though!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQb5d9N2NuU

We went through lost bridge and a few other fresh trails in the park:

After that the group wandered back up to Flex and Stuff to wrap up the day:

The next day we started out with breakfast at Coop’s Café just off the highway in Seymour (very recommended for cheap, good eats). We started heading east with JN into some pea soup fog, eventually it let up:

And we jumped onto some two lane:

Then some gravel roads:

And single track:

Where we stopped at the remains of Turner Mill:

And hiked a short trail:

Until we got to the wheel and springs:

Springs Video:

We then hit the single track again:

To regular rock roads:

Back to two lane:

And reversed the order again:

Until we got to Falling Springs Mill. Sadly this mill (and the area around it) has been severely vandalized within the past year:

Then more driving:

Until we got to the last mill, the Klepzig Mill and Shut-ins:

Well it looks like Superlift is out, just can't swing it schedule wise, so we're heading to Moonlight Racing in Sullivan Mo on 6/1/13.

I'm planning on a Turkey Bay run sometime in July, don't know when at this point, but I'll post it up when I do. It probably won't be until mid to late July if I had to guess.

And some sad news.... Washita, which is my favorite park in the area, has been sold and is ceasing operations as an offroad park :(

SMORR is an awesome park... can't wait to go back. Hopefully in June for the Rough Country run

I'd love to catch you over at Superlift one time... It's the 2nd close major park to me (after Hawk Pride). I won't run the harder stuff but yeah... lol.

I've got no idea if I'll ever make the trip to Superlift as it's a heck of a haul for me which makes it difficult to find the time. It's easy for me to sneak in a day trip to somewhere, weekend trips are another matter.

For the lower res ones, I'm just using a cannon point and shoot. The higher Res ones are from my wife, and it's either a Cannon 6D or 60D. I don't really recall which one.

Ben, I'll be in your neck of the woods July 19-21, as will a few others. Gonna be around that weekend?

Too far out to tell for sure, but I'm going to try to wander up to Gateway with all that jazz going on. I'm hoping to be down your way sometime in July to run around Turkey Bay, hopefully not the weekend that you folks will be up this way :icon_twisted: All depends on where work wants me to be.

18th Offroad Trip - Moonlight Racing

This park exceeded all the expectations we had going into it. I’m looking forward to the next trip out there, but we’ll probably hold off until it cools off some and kills some bugs (tick central right now!).

Started out very wet:

We traveled a little over 9.5 miles over the course of the day:

We wandered around on the North East side of the park, until we got yelled at. Apparently you need to knock on the door to give them money if no one is floating around the office (never mind the dogs, they're friendly enough):

Once checked in, a YJ and XJ jumped into the stream crossing and we wandered around the South West portion of the park:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVs-on652ic

And from there, we wandered all around the park. No map yet, so I don't really know where all the photo's came from.

There are quite a few fun ledges in the park to play on:

Someone did mange to goad a friend into playing for our amusement :)
