Thanks for all input guys. I think I'm going to give it a try if my Tundra buddy wants to. It might be a few days before I can get the results....

I thought it was a towing competition? Everyone is talking as if its a tug-o-war. Which one is it?

4x4 Ranger will pull a 2wd Tundra around all day. What matters is the weight on driving tires. You've got him beat by double. He'll be helpless.

If he knows how to tow and slowly rolls into the throttle he'll probably pull you but if he just puts foot in it he will spin his tires and you can easily pull him. Use 4x4 low and wait for him to make the mistake.

also if you are going to be using a tow hitch...try to get the strap connected higher than his....when his truck pulls, itll pull yours down and helping you plant the rear tires more, giving you more traction.

You. Because you will hold on the brakes until he starts spinning, then you'll punch it and pull him.

Do it.
x2! and, taking into account the 4wd vs 2wd and lightweight versus mediumweight differences, it should be pretty close otherwise.

but still, get him to spin first, and yank his jap crap backwards!

Probably the gearing. Stock nissan axles have mad crazy gearing, hence why I'm thinking about building mine into an offroad rig since it will never be street legal.

Gearing doesn't matter. Weight over driven axles is what matters--given that the tires are about the same. A 4wd Ranger has more weight over driven tires than a 2wd fullsize. All you have to do is not break traction and you can drive all over the countryside with him bouncing along behind you. I mean, if he just sits there and holds his brakes you won't be able to move him--nor he you, if you hold your brakes. But if you are both trying to pull, you will easily win.
