I hate the fact that somebody, somewhere in time, made everybody think that a small truck can't do crap, and is just a car with a bed.
I'm with this guy on the topic. All my buddies are surprised when I go as far in the mud (or nearly as far) as they do in my stock ranger. They all have full-size trucks that are lifted and 4x4.

i liked my '88 not having th extra odometer didget. the dealership thought it had 103,000 when it really had 203,000. made for a better trade in! it was maintianed well and had a overhaul at 140,000 so i didnt feel too bad for their goof. that and i got 3,500 trade in on a truck i had for 7 years, put 100K on and originally paid 7,500 for.

Doors hard to open in cold weather...handles are all lift and no pull. A little ice and it won't open. Or, if you park on the side of a logging road with one side low then you can't lift the door open.

Yea, my 07 is like this. The doors freeze and prying them open rips off the seal near the top of the doors and stresses the flimsy plastic handles. My 87 had little gutters above the doors, which prevented almost all of this issue. And the 87 had metal handles.

Someone on ebay is selling metal handles for the most recent gen. Rangers and I took my seals off, cleaned the back side and glued them on with weatherstrip adhesive. And I've heard shaving cream on the face of the seals helps, because it has alcohol in it and therefor doesn't freeze.

The slave cylinder, and poor acceleration/uphill climbing. I think I took care of the power problem without sacrificing gas mileage though. Dropping in a 1988' Turbo Coupe, 2.3 turbo engine. It should be a nice upgrade... Going from the lame, stock 88hp to 190 will surely make her jump. I'm about a week away from finishing the project, and think I'll have a beautiful relationship with my Ranger from then on. I LOVE everything else about the truck.

I had a Geo Tracker that did that; got down to 7-8 before I sold it. Changed plugs/wires/dizzy, cleaned EGR, tuned it up and never got better. Wish I could figure out why that happens.
I hate that my Ranger just sits there; daring me to get it running again.

Easy fix.. Clean door rubber seal spray liberally with crc dry silicon.

I don't like the valve tap on my 4.0. Almost embarassing when cold.

I don't like the stalling when cold I can't seem to figure out.

Other than that, a good vehicle for my needs. I like my Ranger.
