I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0L automatic. I replaced rotors, calipers, pads, drums, shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders, and all of the lines from the master cylinder back. I have tried just about all I can to bleed the brakes on this dang thing and still am having no luck. from what I can tell im getting fluid to the abs unit but nothing coming out of it. anyone have any suggestions because the trucks been down for 2 weeks now all because the brakes need bled.

ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED

I'm no expert. But maybe the ABS unit is bad?

All of the abs worked before I did the lines though so I wouldn't think it went bad

try to gravity bleed it will take awhile or get a vacuum bleeder or try bleeding the abs unit on the lines from master first then lines going out to the wheels

I would find a friend to help you bleed the brakes. Have him/her pump the peddle 6 or so times then hold it and crack the bleeder.

If you replaced all the lines it may take a while to get fluid down to the wheels. A second person or a pressure bleeder is likely needed here.

When i replaced the front brake hoses on my 92 and bled them my master cylinder went out. I could tell it was getting old, it was dirty as all get out. Ive heard it happens a lot when you bleed an old master, it busts a seal. And i wish i hadnt wasted so much time trying to rlcheck everything else.

Go buy a qt of brake fluid. Fill the MC to the brim. Hopefully, there isnt air in the ABS I avoid that whenever possible.. Next, start looking for wet spots Check all couplings for tightness. Yeah, I know, you checked, but is everything back where it came from? Are the calipers on their correct sides. If they go on upside down, they wont bleed. I do brakes as needed. I use a gravity bleed after I have opened the system. It wont bleed if the lines aren't tight. If it doesn't bleed, I check my work until I find the leak. :D

Can you bleed the abs unit without the computer software to open and close the valves?

several ABS inducing panic stops on a slippery surface usually works, provided you have enough brake to drive with.

Thanks for all of the replies but this has been fixed the dealer wanted 350 to open the valves in the unit so I disabled it and rerouted the brakes lines so now no abs

I replaced all the hard lines and wheel cyls , calipers, I left the rear hose and th MC, the drums and rotors I kept too. I took pains to keep the MC full. I probably used a qt in the process. Bleeding was a snap. Everything was new. I used a 2nd qt . I gravity bled by tightening up the drips as I worked from the MC to the wheel cyls. It worked great:D

If nothing else works, it may help to pull the master cylinder and bench bleed it.
