Anyone out there running 38s on the TTB Dana 35 front?

Ive had mine together with 35s now for a bit and am going to go up to 38.5x11 boggers this spring. I have a true trac in the front now and it doesn't seem at all harsh with the 35" boggers which hook up violently on everything.

Just looking for anyones experience with that size tire on the TTB.

That's pushing it, but others have done it before.
Do the full-circle u-joint clip mod w/Spicer 760X joints, and the Warn Jeep hubs if you haven't already, and you may be able to keep it alive for a while if you respect the fact your strength reserves running tires that size are very minimal (no full-throttle assaults, gassing it with the wheels turned, etc.).

I suggest you start thinking about a Dana60/10.25" swap if you want to have any real fun with it.

36x12.50 TSL SX/s and I could grenade hubs into little bits on command....Was also stretching the ears out on axle shafts all the time....had to weld the U joints in.

38's is 1 ton territory.

I second that.

I'd be nervous running 38s on a built D44. I tried it, but p*$$y-footed it, then realized the 4.0 just doesn't have enough torque to spin those heavy tires. Took em right back off.

Thanks for the responses. This truck was never intended to exceed 33s. I was never able to find a group of guys who were serious enough about wheeling around me to need more than the 33s with lockers and gears. Just a bunch of mildly built Heeps on 35s, nothing special. Now I got a group together that actually has the time and money to build so the rigs keep getting bigger and better fast.

Id really hate to get rid of the TTB front end is all. Ive really come to count on the better off camber traction it provides me on sidehill turns and the like. Ive heard of possibly a TTBD60 offered in mid 80s F350s so im going to investigate that and if not go with the TTBD50 in the F250HDs.

That would be a TTB D50. Uses the same u-joints as your D35 TTB.

They're bigger than D35/44 joints, but not as big as the ones in a D60. The TTB D50 also has the same stupid neckdowns like a D44 has, so not a real huge step up in strength.

Wish there was a TTB D60... Some of us could likely scoop it up for 0.1 the cost of a SA D60 lol.
