That's ridiculous. Then why does Ford include it in their maintenance schedule.
Pffft, the ones on my previous Ranger and Sport Trac didn't last that long. Replaced on the 3/36 warranty.
Because they use the same maintenance schedule for all their vehicles, with a few exceptions listed. It will also tell you to change the cabin air filter, which Rangers and Explorers do not have. (That comes to mind because I changed the one in my wife's Taurus the other day. It's sort of a pain in the ass but I'm getting better at it.
I also changed the one in my dad's Cadillac, which if I'm not careful might take as long as 30 seconds. )

My mom's old late 90's Isuzu Rodeo didn't have a tranny dipstick either. The fluid was a dealer change item, and it had to be pumped out and back in through a plug in the bottom. I went to change the tranny filter on a friends mid 90's Civic too. Guess what? It's not serviceable. If you want to change it, you have to tear the transmission down. I also spend a little more for lifetime parts just to get the grease fittings, the warranty is an added perk.ha, the boots dont even have to break.... i am also a huge fan of lifetime fluids, why would anyone want a tranny dipstick???
just replaced mine too and now they have zerk fittings on them much better, plus the upper ball joints are blue so my truck now has blue balls haha
