I purchased a Melling 328 oil pump for my 2.9.
The box says 328 but the marking on the pump reads 128 ?
Anyone else notice this ?

I can't help. All I can suggest is to phone the company tomorrow morning. My respect for the company dropped a notch a few months ago when I found I had to grind the bolt mounting surface to parallel the block mounting surface. That was on a 460ci.

I asked a member here , BrutalPanda who recently posted that he was using one says that he contacted Melling who told him its the same case but different gear ratio.
I was thinking that may be the case but wanted to double check.

That would make sense. The case isn't going to change, so it would be a huge production expense to have a second casting die just to change the case number. But the gearing inside the pump would be what changes the flow.

55 psi at idle when cold. 30 warm, I'd have to say its safe to say the rep didn't bullshit me cause I was skeptical at first. It took 10 seconds of priming to have oil out of the rockers

The 3 I have bought all had 328 on the pump -not 128.
