Yea, but they were junk.

The current Wrangler Rubicon comes with a "44" and has 5x4.5" lug pattern, but thats kind of different....

'75-'79 Dodge half-tons (5x4.5").
The cartridge wheelbearings ain't the greatest though, and there are no locking hubs on it (plus, the diff is on the wrong side, you'd have to swap the outers onto something else (or re-tube it). Not worth it).

Nothing that isn't weaker than what you already have now.

It would be easier and stronger to just get wheel adapters for the rear axke and go to 5x5.5

Axles aren't the only thing that makes a truck wide or narrow, rims play a bigger part. My stock axles with 10 inch rims with 3 5/8th's inch back spacing are as wide as a full width axle with stock rims. The only difference is that my truck eats wheel bearings and ball joints where as it wouldn't with full width axles.

you might look for a wrangler 44 they will handle 37's or so.a little wider though and no lock outs.stronger than ttb but not the strongest 44

Retubing it will work, yes (the centersection is built the same, although could have a leafspring mount cast in the opposite side, or other similar variations).

The Wrangler (Rubicon) D44 uses D30 outer parts. It wouldn't fare much (if any) better than the D35 would (but would still be better than the small-ring-geared D30). I'd run 35s max on it under a Ranger.

IIRC, Scout axles had VERY long steering arms on the knuckles, you won't get your full turning radius with those.
