My mom's edge already had this recall fixed months ago. Unless there was somehow another unrelated recall that required replacing the camera? :dunno:

Probably just found the problem on more vehicles.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Back up cameras are government mandated b/s that makes vehicles cost more. I ignore the one in my Escape and use the mirrors.

The recall is new. We have already been working under an SSM that directs us to just replace the camera if it had any issues at all for about two months now.

Ford knew they had an issue, I guess they have now decided it is wide-spread enough to issue a recall over. I don't have an advanced notice bulletin yet to pull a number off of, but I am guessing this will be a customer satisfaction or compliance campaign, and not a safety one.

Just the right size to touch the ground.
Why would you ignore it? You're mirrors cannot see directly behind the vehicle. I'm not saying they should be mandated but why in the hell would you ignore them if you have them. That's effing stupid.

Ban me.

Bren had a rental a few years back that had a rear camera, she loved it but Im not a fan. When you have the salty mess in winter, that lens is going to be covered in no time. Its really a “government mandated item” now? thats nuts, its a wonder that headlight wipers (like on a mercedes I saw once) arent a mandated thing.

I don't agree that they ever needed to be, or should have been forced on the consumer by a government mandate. They simply aren't that important. BUT, if you have one I just don't see the logic in complaining about it or not using it. They are occasionally quite a bit more useful than the mirrors. :dunno:

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Makes it real easy to hook up to a trailer.

Also makes it much easier to drive in reverse at high speeds while ducked down to avoid gunfire...

You don’t like continuously smashing your license tag into your trailer? While the traffic waits, and stairs at you like your drunk?
