I just got a grille guard for my F-150 and was browsing around looking at lights. I stumbled apoun Hella's website and found a light that turns black when it is shut off, I think it would look kinda cool since my truck is mostly black as well as the grill guard. I don't want to spend a ton of money on these things however, they will mostly be for looks and the one week a year this thing has a chance to go off road at night is while deer hunting.

Here is actual pictures of them:

I found that Summit is a dealer and what scares me is they list 3 setups, 2 are well over $100 and one at $14. What would be the chances of the $14 just a typo or is it right?

And finally has anyone been around these things? Are they worth the money if it isn't right? I am still on the fence as to how they would look, my set of $35 Rallyes on my Ranger are still working good after 5 years, plus they have round ones without the grille now.

They're good driving lights....by no means the best or brightest, but if the objective is to significantly enhance/extend low beam visibility you can't go wrong with them. I purchased them primarily for night driving on rural roads where wildlife and farm animals have a habit of setting up shop in the middle of the road.

The great thing about them is the beam is focused such as to permit you to run them with your low beams and not present a hazard to oncoming traffic; as long as they're mounted 42" or lower off of the road surface and correctly aimed (in Indiana). In the 6 months or so I ran them I seldom got flashed by oncoming cars and was never stopped/ticketed.

Following are some performance photos. The reach on the lights is about 175 yards when correctly aimed.

Black Magics only:

Plus, they do look kind of cool:

Wow they do make a pretty good difference with the low beams, I have been flashed enough with the lights on my Ranger I didn't even think about using these on the road. I noticed you are not using them anymore, any reasons in particular you are not using them and what replaced them?

Pulled all the off road parts from the truck and went back stock with it.

Will eventually go with a grillcraft grill insert with Black Magics hidden behind it.
