High pressure in tank fuel pump

I attached pics of the line and my press to give a better idea of what I did. It runs very well and I have about 34 psi at the fuel rail.

I have an 87 2.3 that has been converted to carb set up. Now I am trying to get it running correctly and am looking at eliminating the high pressure set up with the pressure regulator that was used and going to a low pressure fuel pump to deliver the right flow and pressure at the carb. Any recommendations on the type of pump and how to set it up considering I'm replacing the 87 high pressure system, cannister, filter etc.

You should be able to use the low pressure lift pump that came in those years for the 2.9. Not sure if the 2.3 used the same in tank low pressure lift pump.

You need to go to summit or jeggs... and buy a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. The low pressure pump in the tank is 7.5 psi. For a carburetor you need less than 3.5 psi.

That's crazy. I always assumed Ford used the dual pump setup to make assembly easier on the early models cause some engine were carb and some were EFI. Would've thought the in-tank pump was low enough pressure to use with the carb. I wonder if they had some kind of factory FPR even in 83?

This is my thought also. Iirc, the carbs I've used could take up to 7psi. That's on small block and big block Ford's of the 60s and 70s.

The low psi pump is standard fair for a Holley. Until the seat wears anyway.
