our '92 4.0 ohv had 355k miles on it when I decided to rebuild it. The heads were cracked again and the #4 cylinder had been low on compression for the last 150k miles.

The truck now has 369,5xx miles on it.

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
498,xxx KMs (bought from a canadian) when it met it's early demise. had all new gaskets and 2 new heads at 421,xxx KMs. met it's early demise in the Spokane river...... hydrolocked and it sprung the frame.

that was a 91 explorer. it was on its second transmission

I have a 94 ranger(2.3) with 206,000 and a 93 aerostar(4.0) with 186,000(i bought it with a 124,000 last febuaryand put over 60,000 in the last year) tech info seems to be hard to get on my aerostar waterpump replacement, thermostat, fan clutch. the radiator was pretty straight forward except those two oil/transmission cooler lines were a biitch. I thought that the ranger guys with 4.0 might be able to help me?

Currently own an 07 Mazda B4000 4X4 4.0l with a shade over 10k mi. Sold a 96 Ranger 4X4 4.0l to a buddy in 03 & he's over 190k mi. now. No issues with that truck and why I didn't spend the extra 10K for the Toyota

I got just over 194k on my 97 4.0. Aside from a couple cracked hoses and bad sensors it hasn't had any major problems.

134,000 on my 94 expolder gets hot under hard acceleration other than that runs good gets better gas mileage than my 2002 4.0 sohc.Only thing i can think of on the over heat is head gaskets seeping under heavy loads.
