Jim, did you chip your new truck? As in computer chip for performance? I had a piggyback chip (sct cheapo) in my mustang and because it was installed and not secured it shorted out the cpu similar to a pats issue. I had to duct tape the chip in place for it to not have any problems.

But since you already have the problem, read up on TSB's and recalls and have the dealership fix everything now isntead of later. Could be a blessing in disguise.

- UPDATE -

Ford towed the truck in today. The motor was flooded. It's running rich. No idea why yet. I told the service manager that the truck ran much stronger at 1/2 throttle than full throttle since day 1. They gave me another exact same truck to test drive. The throttle response on that one was much better than mine. They suspect it's ran rich since new.

They gave me a loaner car (Fusion) so they can keep my truck. They have it hooked up to some kind of computer that will tell them more about what it's doing. I guess it was loaded with codes.

Hopefully they'll find the problem tomarrow.

Wow, that's fun. Kinda surprised that they didn't catch that at PDI.

I'm just glad it chose to not start while it was in my driveway.

Man I totally understand where your coming from. If I had a Brand new truck I would expect it to work perfectly for atleast 100,000 miles. My parents had trouble with new cars ever since my moms subaru. It developed a bad motor tick at 20,000 miles that the dealer tried to worm out of because we didn't change the oil but upon investigation found only the one side was wearing bad. Replaced the engine, then it went out again and was about to go and then she wrecked it. My dads new saturn started making the worst noise ever going over bumps after about 10,000 miles because the steering was just riveted to the frame.

Those boxers aren't great. They make good power, but the wear funny and aren't as long lived as in-lines or V configured. I knew one guy who was a subaru guy but was always blowing engines in his outbacks.

- UPDATE -

Still at the dealership. They can't figure out what's wrong. All the sensors tell them it's running rich, but they can't find the cause. They changed the Mass Air Flow sensor. No change.

Tell them you want a new engine because you're afraid the cylinder walls got gas-washed because of the rich condition. It's definitely a possibility if it was so flooded it wouldn't start.

You'd think a truck with 10,000 miles wouldn't be doing this kind of crap. My 18 year old 190,000 miles explorer doesn't do that kinda crap.

Wonder if it's as stupid as installing the wrong injectors from factory, such as those for a supercharged application etc... Very little chance, but who knows. It could also be a corrupt ECM, or have been flashed with the wrong software in the very beginning etc.

It's probably something stupid yes, but I doubt it's any of that.

The 5.4 injectors are the largest used by Ford (except Raptor 6.2) and there is no current supercharged application of the 5.4.

I'd bet bad module. PCM is probably at fault, but if it's the wrong software set the chances of the engine ever having run are low.

Shelby 5.4's are hand built, so it is unlikely that their injectors got on the regular line.

Shelby GT-500's use supercharged 5.4's...

Ok, you got me on the GT-500, but the first part of your post also kinda negates the idea that it got the SC injectors.

Never seen a CF truck.

But the two applications mentioned are aftermarket mod companies, not stock cars, and they are sold only at certain dealerships.
