My rear end locks up when I'm in 4wd and when I come to a stop or slow down is when it will lock up, But if I take it out of 4wd and back the truck up then go forward it be just fine. My rear end is a ford 8.8 with LSD and disc brakes. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

How do you know it is the rear end that is locking up?

^^^ good point. When the transfer case is engaged - the 4x4 is on - then the front and rear axles are tied together. You have symptoms of something wrong with forward of the transfer case ie; front axle possibly.

A 94 with disc brakes also indicates an axle swap, are the ratios the same?

My first thought too. Sure sounds like it has 2 different axle ratios...

I agree! Backing up UNWINDS the system allowing the 4x4 to be released. I bet he didn't get very far in 4x4!
I would suggest jacking up one front wheel and one back wheel and then turning them to see just what is inside each pumpkin.
