Battery disconnection is recommended and highly over rated. Heck, Ford's instructions for a tire rotation are "place vehicle in N, position on lift, and disconnect the battery". There should be some sort of retainer, possibly an entire retainer bridge, that holds the solenoid (or all of them) to the valve body. Probably two small bolts to remove it. Once that is out of the way it will pull out, but there are two or three o-ring seals on the neck that will help hold it in place. You may need to wiggle it a bit or use a small screw driver to pry it back.

Be careful taking it out, the valve body is a highly machined, very sharp piece of metal and the corners can easily slice into your fingers. Apply some clean ATF to the rings on the new unit before installation.

Also, do you know how much tran fluid I need to replace (that I drained from the pan)? Yeah, I'm a clueless PITA, sorry, lol :dunno:

Grrr!!!

Ok, so I got the TCC Solenoid out & had it tested (twice!) & it's not the culprit. Checked the TCC Solenoid valve, which was also fine. Removed the entire control valve body & had all valves checked, which were also ok. So now I reckon I'll put it all back together after work this morning & get back to the drawing board. Will unplug solenoid kit from outside transmission & see what happens, as I was told by tranny guy in town that if it works with it unplugged then I have an electrical/computer issue and if it doesn't then I can continue on with my transmission investigation...which will include replacing the TCC itself next ($150 if I replace it myself, which I should be able to do with what I've accomplished thus far). Sigh...now I remember why I'm a nurse & not a mechanic!! :icon_confused:

remember....my connector at the trans. was faulty also.....just saying....if it's a connector (pin) or a bad wire in the harness--wouldn't want you to spend $150 for nothing......
