wasnt there a guy from lima with a 9 second 4 whizzer transplanted from his wrecked drag car about 12 years ago? seen him with the guy that drove the black 10 sec neon. milan and norwalk.

like 750 hp 4 whizzer. there was a college kid with a 900-1000 hp mustang hanging around a bit back then too.

I have been in the turbo 2.3 scene for about 15yrs and with all the people I know and the web forums Im on I have never heard of a Lima based 2.3t Ranger run in the 9s. The two fastest I know of are in the 10.30-10.40 range. One is a Duratec tho.

If there is a faster four banger Ranger out there I would love to know who it is and pick his brain over lunch!!

the owner was from the lima area, the powertrain was from a foreign vehicle...some sort of jap setup iirc. but after making a few calls i realized that truck was in the 12's....the one in the low 10 high 9 was a turbo 6. and not a ford 6 either.

i been gone a long long time.:shok:

Been a good week here! First and foremost I did buy a new motor. I now own a real Ford 9" tall deck block that so far looks to be in great shape still.

Block is only 30 over and is O-ringed.It came with a cast crank of unknown origin with a 3.480 stroke and chevy rod journals. Looks like a stout piece. Main caps are studded and strapped. Its set up with chevy 6" rods and flat tops. I wont be using the rods or pistons but will stay with same combo. As it sits with current bore its 158ci or exactly 2600cc. SHould be a great combo for auto trans truck. Block and crank are getting cleaned and inspected right now.

I also got my new rear street tires. Hoosier 27x11.50 Quick Time Pros

Found a great deal at Mikes Turbos in FL for my Tial MVS 44mm gate with all the springs

I'm following.
It'd be interesting to me to see your prices paid. It would give me an idea of what to expect if I go a similar route. I did that in my build thread and it's a bit of an eye opener.

Looks like the block will need to go .060 over since there is a couple small nicks in #3 and the one bore measured 3.816 already. No biggy, whats a couple more cubes?

I test fit the new tires under the white truck yesterday and found there wasnt enough room. Tire pressed against the leaf and it still touched the fender. Soooo after weighing over a couple options I decided to just get rid of the leaf spring suspension and just ladder bar the truck. Once I cut and widen the wheel tub in the bed I can gain another 2.5" of clearance on inside and fit my 11.50 tire easy and Im pretty sure a 12.50 would also.

S&W Race Cars sells a nice complete kit with crossmember and coil over kit for less than $800. With skipping buying the $400 mono leafs and selling my current shocks and Caltracs I will end up saving a few bucks.

Tim O started on my Dport and its looking great. The base line numbers look like this. The Green line is my head with some mild sanding roll work and the blue line is a box stock Esslinger Dport. Yes my flow was hurt by the sanding!

And after Tim did his valve job. Again, mine is green.

I have never tried this before so its been a learn as I go kinda thing. Made my cuts so the ribs in floor still line up and should look pretty seamless once its all finished. Pretty happy so far.

1400HP seems like a lot for a 2.3L [emoji6]

So you are putting Chevy rods in a Ford block?
