Ok, i have a '98 B3000, and have recently run into trouble. It wont run, and when it does, it idles really ruff, than smooths out, than ruff, than smooth, and so on. when i press the gas (even when in neutral) it lugs and usually stalls.

I thought maybe ice in the gas lines, because there's snow and ice everywhere and ive been drifting and such, but i put fuel line antifreeze in it yesterday when the problem arrived, and it hasnt changed yet.

Next best guess is the TPS, because its just acting like it isnt getting any gas, but im lookin to see if anyone else has had this problem, and maybe knows what to do. anyone?

thanks for any help given

Could be a number of things. Are you getting any check engine lights?

Prime the fuel system several times before cranking (key to Run, pause, hear FP run then stop, key to OFF, repeat, repeat, repeat then crank the starter).

If Fuel Pump isn't audible, check inertia on PS where their toes hit, pull the carpet back, push reset. Still no FP, check fuse. You can also press the schraeder valve on the fuel injector rail. Remove cap, find tire-stem-like valve, use a rag and press center expecting great spray. Or attach a Fuel Pressure guage.

It's a start.

Check your spark plug wires make sure they are all connected good and tight. Could be something loose

Have you done anything before this started? Or is it just out of the blue?

I'm pretty sure they are, but ill double check. And its pretty out of the blue, it started acting up on tuesday, than finally died a few hours later.

The truck does run....kinda haha. When i try and start it enough times itll finally idle ruff and smooth back and forth, than finally start to run smooth like normal, but when i open the throttle it starts to lug and die..

Current diagnosis is fuel pressure regulator is stuck open. They're cheap, so I'm just gonna buy one tomorrow and slap it on.

But if anyone has any other ideas lemme know, im open for any answers.
