Polaris seems to have their CVT transmissions figured out.

Wait!!! You’re serious?!?!?!

They’ve got the worst system out of all of the ATV/UTV manufacturers. Yamaha and Suzuki have it figured out.
Polaris allows the belt to slip on the sheave at idle. They’re well known for blowing belts and wearing out sheaves... Most people carry a spare at all times.
The Yamaha and Suzuki system uses a centrifugal wet clutch that engages just off idle. Yamaha has a 10 year belt warranty. Ive NEVER replaced a Yamaha belt and only replaced 1 Suzuki belt because I was doing clutch work and the owner wanted the belt put on... there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old belt.

I was nervous about it when I got my ranger 400 but I've been using it every day for about a year now and it's never had a hiccup... :dunno:

The polaris system isnt as bad as what ita made out to be.

The people who have the most issue are the ones who eithe A) try to do things like plowing or slow technical riding in high range instead of low, or B) set the idle way high (not an issue with modern EFI ones)

I only deal with modern EFI ones.

Running only in high is definitely an issue. They’re also trying to push too much power through a just adequate enough CVT for the weight of the vehicle (UTV issue mainly). Once you go to bigger tires or start upping the power, it just can’t handle it.
It you leave it stock it usually doesn’t have many issues... Where’s the fun in leaving something stock?!

Yeah, not many of us here are fans of stock configuration.

My 2010 polaris ranger 400 still has a carb lol. First side by side I've ever owned and I got it used and it's been incredibly reliable. I use it every single day and it's never had a hiccup. Until it does, I'm calling it, and all its components including the CVT reliable lol.

It took time to get use to the CVT, at first I kept wanting to stick it in high cause it's weird getting the revs high and not shifting. You feel like its maxed out but gotta just let it do its thing and itll keep going without needing high gear.
